Hi lovelies! When it comes to hair, it seems we all want what we cannot have. As a naturally straight-haired girl with lifeless locks, I have always longed for the kind of bouncy, voluminous hair you see in shampoo commercials. Until recently, I thought that kind of volume was just an urban hair myth. However, I have recently found my flat hair fix thanks to some amazing new products and tricks I've picked up. Read on for all of my tips for adding serious volume!
Start in the Shower
If there's one lesson to take away from this post, it's that not all shampoo and conditioner is created equal. That's why I only trust Hair Food, a hair care line inspired by fresh ingredients. Not only do their products smell amazing, they are also free of harmful additives that weigh your hair down, like parabens and mineral oil. I recommend Hair Food Kiwi Volume Shampoo and Conditioner—the two products work together to pump up the volume before you even step out of the shower.
Rethink the Way You Blow Dry
Though blow drying may seem like a no-brainer, it's all about the technique. I like to start the process by flipping my head over and focusing right at the scalp. I find that blow drying hair with a round brush creates the most volume and lift. The trick is to over direct the hair by pulling sections up and away from your head. The smaller the sections, the more volume you'll achieve.
The Finishing Touch
Once my hair is dry, I finish things off with Hair Food Kiwi Dry Shampoo. Even if you've just hopped out of the shower, a bit of dry shampoo will help to absorb excess oils that weigh your hair down throughout the day. Dry shampoo is also fantastic for adding texture, which boosts volume and prevents hair from getting flat.
If you'd like to try any of the products I've mentioned in this post, now is your chance! Now through March 26th, Hair Food is offering 40% off their entire line through Target's Cartwheel app. All you need to do is download the app, add Hair Food to your barcode, and scan at checkout!
